Block Rock

Citizen Addiction has some new entertainment.  First on the list is a music video for the song, "What Was It."  TV CITADD epiosde 2 as well, "Block Rock."  "Block Rock" was filmed in Delaware Water Gap, Pa. on a homemade stage.

Why "Block Rock"?  Well, It's sort of bluesy... sort of rocky.. but at the same time, we're trying to block the rock that flows through our veins.  It's a very difficult thing.

Reverbnation is a lot of fun.  The stats are awesome, allowing you to track the number of hits a song gets, an email you've sent (with fanreach) and most of it is free.  What isn't free, I've got to try with a free trial.

I've been on Reverbnation for a few months now and love it.  It's much better than other sites I've been on.  The interface is easy to get used to and there are many great bands.  The music player also allows songs to play while changing pages.  So much more convenient.

Negatives about Reverbnation?  Not everything is free.  But like I said, free-trials are usually available for pro features.  I've had a little bit of trouble with people spamming there bands name on my page, basically.  But that doesn't happen too often; and can be avoided by changing settings.

Reverbnation allows you to upload mp3s (only) and link music videos from youtube directly to your page; add photos, connect a blog or create one right at the site.  It's worth looking into if you're an artist trying to get your name out there or just someone trying to connect.  Reverbnation isn't just for artists - it's for fans, managers and others as well.

New Songs, New Gig

Citizen Addiction has many new songs and a new place to play at, every Friday starting at 9:00pm.

The Riverside Bar and Grille of Easton, Pa has open mic every Friday starting at 9pm.  Citizen Addiction is a new addition to the lineup; and also playing weekly is house band, Surrender The Booty.  Open mic is organized by Walter Lee, member of Karen Meeks and the FunkDivision.

Recording, The Way I Am

The Way I Am guitar and drums part was recorded in a basement.  Garage band was used to capture the ghost that is music, making us sort of like ghost busters.  Afterwards, Audacity (free audio editing program that rocks.  Google it.) was used to record and edit the vocals.  Then a quick mix and boom.  It's here, live, on the internet for all to listen to.  Happy listening :)

Experience with Google Adwords

MP here, member of Citizen Addiction.  Recently, the band has been trying to reach a larger audience with Google Adwords.  The concept is fantastic, but the results were less than expected.

By signing up, we received a $100 promotional code.  Awesome.  I was required to talk on the phone to a representative, but that was fine.  Good customer service and the wait time was about a minute.

The representative I spoke to didn't really offer much help when it came to setting up successful ads.  In fact, the default radius was set to 20 miles around our business address, which seems a little ridiculous to me.  The budget is reasonable, around $2.50/day; and although we didn't get any clicks in the first few days, the charge is per click.  So, we didn't lose any of our promotional money because of the less than exceptional ad placement.

The layout of the Google Adwords website is great.  There are numerous stats and the whole site is user-friendly enough.  Although our first ad was a complete failure, the stats show us why.  The traffic generated by keywords, estimations, clicks and impressions allow for correct alteration of ads.

Lesson learned?  Try location extensions without address overrides.

Google Adwords is simple to use ad-placement tool.  Google itself is a huge search domain.  If we keep up the good music, maybe our ads will bring in more traffic to our website, http://www.reverbnation.com/citizenaddicttion

The Way I Am

Citizen Addiction is currently working on a new song, The Way I Am.  Acoustic, electric, drums and voice. Inspired by modern rock artist, Nick Flavell, in part.

Coming soon, Honorary member Walter Lee on guitar.  Expect some cello.  Expect lots of cello; in conjunction with Matty Pie and the Chiznosapian.

First of all... we did not add him on Reverbnation.  Second of all, his comment makes it seem as if we are fans of him.. and we haven't even ever heard any of his music, nor do we plan on doing so.  Thirdly, he's just a blatant fan-gather who probably writes the same thing on everyone's wall who is naive enough to let anyone leave comments on their page.

Lesson learned?  Set preferences to administration approval of comments.  Thank you and goodnight.

Matty Pie and the Chiznosapian

Citizen Addiction works in conjunction with Matty Pie and the Chiznosapian.  While Cit Add is mostly rock/alt, Matty Pie and the Chiz includes Modern Classical (with cello and guitar), some rap, and some alternative music; as well as funk, chilled out and slightly rockish stuff (like No Honey).  Check out my personal favorite, Mycophobia on Reverbnation.

Citizen Addiction is a band.  A relatively new band.  A band, that is up-and-coming.  I am a member of Citizen Addiction.  My name is Matt.  There are two members of this band.  The other band member's name is also Matt.
